We have developed a range of proprietary cell lines and are actively developing other stem cell lines both in-house and in partnership with our academic collaborators. Our goal is to make a wider range of physiology relevant cell types available in formats useful for pharmaceutical research and to further advance the potential of stem cell-based regenerative medicines.

Neural stem cells

Neural stem cells

Homogeneous, adherent stem cell lines derived from neural tissue that differentiate into neurons, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. Cells are amenable to automated culture, nestin positive and can be supplied as live or frozen cells, lysates or RNA.

NS derived neurons

NS derived neurons

Up to 60% MAP2 +ve cells differentiated in serum free conditions from either mouse or human NS cells can be supplied as live or frozen cells, lysates or RNA.

Astrocytes

Astrocytes

GFAP positive astrocytes differentiated from mouse or human ES cells or mouse or human neural stem cells can be provided as live or frozen cells, lysates or RNA at different time points in their differentiation.

Oligodendrocytes

Oligodendrocytes

A cell that provides insulation to nerve cells by forming a myelin sheath around axons. Can be differentiated from mouse neural stem cells to achieve approximately 20% oligodendrocytes in a heterogeneous culture.

Embryonic stem cells

Embryonic stem cells

Pluripotent stem cells derived from the preimplantation (3-5 day old) embryo that have the potential to become any specialised cell type found in the body. Cells can be supplied as frozen vials, live cultures, lysates or RNA.

Human ES cells derived by SCS in collaboration with Melbourne IVF and the Australian Stem Cell Centre are available from Millipore and the UK Stem Cell Bank.

Monolayer neural differentiation cultures of either mouse or human ES can be supplied as live or frozen cells, lysates or RNA at different time points in their differentiation.

Multipotent adipose derived

Multipotent adipose derived (hMADS)

Human stem cells derived from adult tissue that have the potential to differentiated into adipocytes, chondrocytes, skeletal muscle and osteoblasts. Cells can be supplied as live or frozen cells, lysates or RNA.

Adipocytes

Adipocytes

Differentiated from hMADS (above) using serum free media (citation). Cells have characteristics of white adipocytes: PPATg2 and aFABP mRNA expression, secrete leptin and adipoleptin and respond to B1 and B2 adrenoreceptor agonists. >90% differentiation in 384 well format.  Cells can be supplied as live or frozen cells, lysates or RNA at different time points in their differentiation.

Osteoblasts

Osteoblasts

Differentiated from hMADS (above) using serum free media (citation). Cells express high levels of osteocalcin mRNA, are alkaline phosphatatse and alizarin red (shown) positive.  Cells can be supplied as live or frozen cells, lysates or RNA at different time points in their differentiation.  >90% differentiation in 384 well format.
