SCS sub-licenses SCS’s proprietary portfolio of stem cell technologies to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries and research institutes.

The technologies are valuable for efficient production, genetic engineering and selection of stem cells for use in drug discovery and basic research. SCS maintains a strong IP and technology position in the area of stem cell selection, gene expression, media formulations and specific stem cell types.

We hold a large number of a patents – which are constantly growing – more than 100 patents are grouped into 20 patent families.

The licences relate to the key technology areas below, which are backed by patents, products and our ability to support you in accessing the license fully.

Stem cell derivation and growth

This family of licences covers the derivation and growth of stem cells in serum-free media.

Tissue stem cells

This covers human ES and hMADS

Human stem cell manipulation

These licenses embrace our selection technology which allows the purification of specific stem cell types from a complex mixture of cells and using Internal Ribosome Entry Site (IRES) to monitor gene expression in living cells and gain an understanding about the function of individual genes, through the efficient insertion of a reporter or marker gene.

Covers the use of robots and processes to scale up stem cells

Assays

Reprogramming

Licences are available for nuclear transfer as well as prototype technologies for re-programming cells to make disease-specific assays.
