The Company has a substantial portfolio of patents and patent applications & through the practise of developing technology based on these inventions, the Company is able to provide a range of Products & Services.

The management of generating commerce from these Products & Services is the responsibility of individual business units. These are:

The business units span the current, major application areas for stem cells, namely technologies for enabling stem cell research, applying stem cells non-therapeutically for drug discovery & development and applying stem cells therapeutically in clinical settings.

A major challenge facing stem cell technology applications is the limited quality and quantity of verifiable stem cell types, particularly human cells that are available.

SCS’ technologies provide convenient, validated solutions to problem issues with stem cells:

• SCS is operating a number of R&D projects focussed on the isolation of stably growing human stem cell lines.
• SCS has engaged in the development of a range of cell culture media products to enable the standardized, reproducible propagation of clinically acceptable cells.
• SCS has proprietary, context specific cell purification technology valuable for generating stem cells or their progeny for use in screens for functional genomic, pharmacological or predictive toxicology or appropriate cell types for transplantation.
• SCS has taken early steps to commercial success in cell-based therapies by reducing cost of goods via early involvement of cell production automation enabling the generation of a consistent supply of high quality cell lines in sufficient quantities for the clinic.

Co-ordination of the business units is achieved through the strategic operational decision making process. Development activities within each unit is co-ordinated through SCS' strategic R&D programmes.
